Delta Chapter Herstory

As the sorority was busy expanding nationally, expansion within Colorado was equally as busy. A neophyte from the Alpha Chapter, Erika Curiel, transferred from the University of Colorado at Boulder to Colorado State University in Fort Collins shortly after she crossed into the sisterhood.

Erika's determination to leave a mark on her recently joined sisterhood coupled with the move to a new univeristy inspired her to create a chapter at Colorado State University. In Fall 1999, as Erika began her first year at CSU, she took on the responsibility of starting an interest group on her campus. Several women joined the group despite the two other Latina sororities already established on campus. The interest group shared the Madres' vision to bring a new and unique siserhood to their campus that would welcome all women.

In Spring 2000, Adelita DeHerrera, Vanessa Gutierrez, Jennifer Manchego, and Carolyn Tredinnick crossed into Pi Lamba Chi's lifelong sisterhood and became Comadres of Delta chapter. The newly founded chapter worked to establish themselves on campus and crossed their first pledge line, "Las Nenas," in Fall 2000. Marlina Montano became the proud member of the Alpha Line.

19 years later we continue to provide a sisterhood of support and academic encouragment for women on CSU's campus.
